Traveling with narcotic medication

Travelers wishing to bring medication containing narcotic substances for their personal use must have the following documentation upon entering Aruba: 

  1. A valid identification document (passport)
  2. A mandatory 'Declaration of No Objection' issued by the Inspectorate of Public Health Aruba (IVA) 

How to obtain a Declaration of No Objection

  • Travelers from Schengen countries (Europe)
    • A certified CAK/Schengen Declaration issued by a Schengen Member State.

    • This declaration is valid for 30 days.

  • Travelers from non-Schengen countries (for example, the United States)
    • A medical declaration from the treating physician abroad that meets the following requirements:
      • Written in a clear and understandable language (English, Spanish, Dutch, or Papiamento).
      • Must be legible, fully completed, and signed by the physician. 

Submission of the Declaration 

The traveler/patient must send one of the above-mentioned declarations by email to inspectiegeneesmiddelen@iva.aw at least 10 working days before arriving in Aruba with the medication.

The declaration must include the following information:

  • Date of arrival and departure;
  • Flight details;
  • Address or location where the traveler will stay during their visit;
